The Misericordia University softball team completed a four-game sweep of Wilkes a pair of wins, Thursday at Anderson Field.
The Cougars won 8-1, 8-3 to improve to 11-1. The second game was halted after five innings.
In the opener,
Megan Murphy led the Cougars with three hits and two RBI and
Amanda Butera added two hits and two RBI.Â
Alexa McHugh struck out six in the complete game win and helped her own cause with two hits and two RBI.
Wilkes took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Cougars got it back in the bottom half of the frame.
With two outs in the bottom of the first, Elliot singled through the right side, moved up on
Kaitlin Redling's walk and came home on Butera's single through the left side.
MU went ahead with a run in the second and added runs in the fourth and fifth innings before breaking the game open with a four-run sixth.
McHugh and Murphy had back-to-back doubles to left center to open the second inning and put the Cougars up, 2-1.
Murphy led off the fourth with a single and eventually scored on Redling's single to make it 3-1.
Pacillo doubled with one out in the fifth and later scored on Murphy's two-out single to give the Cougars a 4-1 lead.
Maddie Holub tripled to lead off the bottom of the sixth and scored on an error. Butera added an RBI-double and McHugh had a two-run triple as the Cougars took an 8-1 lead.
In the nightcap,
Antonia Pacillo hit a three-run homer and
Nicole Elliott and
Amanda Butera had two hits and two RBI each.
Zariah Alvin added two hits for the Cougars.
Jessica Oltman worked 4.2 innings to earn the win.
The Cougars took a 4-0 lead in the third inning of game two.
Murphy and Alvin singled with one out and Holub doubled in a run to make it 1-0. Elliott double in two runs and Butera's two-out single made it 4-0.
After Wilkes got within a run with a three-run fifth, Misericordia responded with four more runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Elliott double with one out in the fifth and scored one out later on Butera's single to make it 5-3.
Victoria Fama reached via hit by pitch and Pacillo closed out the scoring with a three-run homer.
