The Misericordia University softball team rallied to salvage a split at Alvernia, Saturday.

The Cougars dropped the opener, 3-1, but rallied to score nine runs over the final two innings to take the nightcap, 10-8.

Zariah Alvin,
Maddie Holub and Bri Holder all had two hits in the opener.

Holub had two hits and five RBI in the nightcap and Alvin had three hits and drove in two runs.Â
Megan Fenstermaker added two hits and
Amanda Butera hit a solo homer.
Â
Emily Wenner allowed just three earned runs to pick up the win.

Misericordia out-hit Alvernia, 9-5, in the first game, but left two runners on base in three of the final four innings.

Down 2-0, the Cougars scored their lone run in the top of the fourth. Holub tripled down the right field line and scored on
Nicole Elliott's ground out. Butera and Holder both reached on two-out singles, but were stranded.

In game two, Alvernia took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the third.

MU got one run back in the fourth when Butera led off the inning with a homer to center field.

The Cougars tied score with five runs in the sixth. Fenstermaker,
Madison Koons and
Megan Murphy all singled to load the bases and Alvin drove in two runs with a double to right center. Holub followed with a two-run double to left center and came home with the tying run on
Miranda Bohn's double down the right field line.

Misericordia went ahead with four runs in the seventh. Holub gave the Cougars a 9-6 lead with a bases-loaded double to left center and Elliott followed with an RBI-single to center.

Misericordia, 18-4, will host Messiah in their regular season finale, Sunday at 1:00.
