The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team dropped a tough 10-7 decision to Stevenson, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Lauren Weitzel led the Cougars with three goals and two assists and Justine Johnson scored two goals.

Alyssa Delgadillo and Emily Connell each added a goal.

Weitzel had five draw controls and two ground balls and Brianna Fox had three ground balls.

Maggie McGovern made 10 saves in goal.

The Cougars fell behind 3-0 in the first six minutes, but scored four of the next five goals.

Connell took a pass from Weitzel and turned and placed a shot under the bar from eight yards out at 20:23.

Weitzel bounced a shot inside the left post to cut the deficit to 3-2 at 18:54.

After a Stevenson goal, Delgadillo came from behind the net and stuffed a shot inside the left post to get within 4-3 with 11:59 to play in the first half.

Weitzel picked up a ground ball behind her own net and went the distance to pull the Cougars even with 8:01 to go.

Stevenson added two goals to take a 6-4 halftime lead.

The Mustangs scored the first two goals of the second half to go up 8-4 with 16:23 to play.

Johnson took a lob pass from Weitzel in front of the net and bounced a shot inside the right post with 13:24 remaining.

Following a Stevenson goal, Weitzel scored on a free position shot to get the Cougars within 9-6 with 10:33 left.

Genevieve Montanye pulled up on a free position opportunity and found Johnson near the left post to cut the margin to 9-7 with 7:21 to go.

Stevenson closed out the scoring with 5:28 remaining.
