The Misericordia University men's volleyball team advanced to the finals of the MAC Championships consolation bracket with a 3-0 win over Wilkes, Wednesday night on Doc Mould Court.
The Cougars won 25-17, 25-14, 25-21 to win their fourth straight and improve to 8-9.
Matt Churchill had a team-high eight digs and was 18-18 on receptions.
Anthony DePalma led the Cougars with nine kills and
Matt Lavin added eight kills and four aces.
Connor Cusick had five blocks and
Dylan Sellitti had 30 assists.
The Cougars will host Eastern in the MAC consolation final, Saturday at 2:00.
Misericordia never trailed and Wilkes never scored more than two consecutive points in the opening set.Â
Leading 16-13 in the second set, the Cougars scored three straight points and closed the set on a 9-1 run.
The Cougars took advantage of three Wilkes errors during the run and
Caleb Bauder clinched the win with an ace.
The teams traded points throughout much of the third set and were tied 17-17 before DePalma recorded three kills during an 8-4 run that clinched the win.
