The Misericordia University baseball team swept Arcadia, 5-4, 11-1, in the MAC Freedom Semifinals, Saturday at Tambur Field.
The Cougars won their 16
th straight to improve to 25-7 and will face the winner of DeSales/Stevens next weekend.
Brady Madden had a triple and drove in two runs in the opener and
Santino Manganella and
Joe Liscio both had two hits.
Tom Jacob worked five scoreless innings to earn the win and
Joe Valenti got the final two outs to get the save.
In the nightcap, Madden and
Derrick Vosburg both had three hits while Manganella, Liscio,
Dante Salerno and
Austin Miles all drove in two runs.
Brendan Gray allowed just one unearned run over seven innings to pick up the win.
Matt Lanzendorfer struck out three over two innings to close out the game.
The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second of game one.Â
Sean Boylan singled to center and moved to second on Vosburg's infield single. After a sacrifice bunt, Madden drove in a run on a ground out and Vosburg came home on a wild pitch with the second run.
MU added an insurance run in the fifth and two more in the sixth.Â

Garrett McIlhenney and Manganella gave the Cougars a 3-0 lead in the fifth.
Boylan led off the sixth and he eventually came home on Madden's triple to right field. Liscio drove in Madden on a bunt single for a 6-0 lead.
Arcadia got on the board in the eighth and added a three-run homer in the ninth before Valenti came on to get a grounder and a strikeout to end the game.
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first in the nightcap and broke the game open with seven runs in the second.
McIlhenney was hit by pitch in the bottom of the first and later scored on Salerno's sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead.
Seven different players drove in runs in the second inning and Liscio and Miles both had RBI-doubles in the third.
