The Misericordia University field hockey team picked up its first victory of the season with a 4-0 win at Cedar Crest, Tuesday night.

Mikayla Cavenas and
Anna Effinger both had a goal and an assist while
Shannon Murphy and
Kristen McCloskey both added goals.

Olivia Gretz made two saves to earn the shutout.

After a scoreless first period, Murphy put the Cougars in front with an assist from Cavenas nearly six minutes into the second quarter.

Cavenas made it 2-0 with a blast in front off a feed from Effinger just before halftime.

Effinger gave MU a 3-0 lead early in the third period with an assist from
Olivia Kempf.

McCloskey closed out the scoring with an assist from
Lily Metress with less than two minutes to play.

The Cougars will host Scranton, Friday.
