Misericordia University held a dedication of Dr. Michael Mould Court in the Anderson Center, Sunday, in recognition of Mould's contributions to Misericordia athletics.

In his 14 years (1990-2004) as director of athletics, Mould made an everlasting impact on the Misericordia athletics program.

Upon his arrival, the school sponsored eight varsity sports and featured 120 student-athletes and was in the process of transitioning from NAIA to NCAA III membership.

Mould's first order of business was the hiring of a full-time athletics members and he later initiated the department's graduate assistant and internship programs.  He also oversaw the construction of Anderson Softball Field and Anderson Soccer Field (currently McGeehan Field).

He engineered the construction of the Anderson Sports-Health Center and later the development of Mangelsdorf Field at the Anderson Outdoor Athletics Complex.

Mould spearheaded the school's transition to NCAA Division III membership and it status as a founding member of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.

During his tenure, the Cougars claimed 21 PAC titles, 20 Eastern Collegiate Athletics Conference playoff berths and two NCAA tournament appearances.

Eric Sweeney became an NCAA swimming champion and Heather Dougherty earned All-America status during Mould's time at Misericordia.

In addition, Mould oversaw the addition of 10 varsity sports – men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's track & field, men's and women's lacrosse, women's soccer and cheerleading.

Perhaps most importantly, Mould achieved each of these milestones while ensuring that each of Misericordia's student-athletes enjoyed a first-class experience during their athletics careers.

He was inducted into Misericordia's Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005.
