The Misericordia University women's volleyball team evened its record at 8-8 while extending its winning streak to six matches with a 3-1 win at Wilkes, Wednesday.
Fiona Pyfer had 17 kills, five blocks and 10 digs as the Cougars won 25-21, 25-15, 23-25, 25-15 to improve to 2-2 in the MAC Freedom.
Faith Merritt had 14 kills, 12 digs and three aces and
Jessica Oltman added six kills and four blocks.
Annika Massa had 39 assists and eight digs and
Alexa Monro and
Jessica Cleveland added three aces each.
Down 9-6 in the opening set, the Cougars scored 19 straight points to take a 14-9 lead. Hendrickson had a pair of aces during the run and Pyfer capped the spurt with a kill.
Kills from Oltman, Massa and Merritt closed a 6-3 run to give MU a 22-17 lead.
Pyfer had two kills to close out the set.
Trailing 11-8 in the second set, the Cougars used a 13-1 run to take a 21-12 lead.
Merritt had three aces to fuel the run.
Oltman, Merritt and Pyfer had kills and Oltman and Pyfer combined for a block as the Cougars scored five straight points to take a 15-7 in the finale.
Monro had two aces as the Cougars closed out the match with four straight points.
The Cougars will travel to Franklin & Marshall, Saturday.
