The Misericordia University women's soccer team opened the season with a 5-0 win, Saturday afternoon at Chatham.
Kaylee Sturans had a goal and assist and
Michaela Fasolino,
Emma Sweitzer,
Ally Waite and
Sarah Kowalski all added goals.
Madison Brdaric had an assist.
Alexis Benedetto made three saves to earn the shutout.
Waite put the Cougars in front midway through the first half with a header off a feed from Sturans.
Sweitzer made it 2-0 with an unassisted tally at 30:01 and Fasolino scored just three minutes later with an assist from Brdaric.
Kowalski and Sturans scored unassisted goals in a three-minute span late in the second half to round out the scoring.
MU will visit Lebanon Valley, Wednesday.
