Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

MU Men Win Big on Senior Day

The Misericordia University men's soccer remained unbeaten in the MAC Freedom with a 6-0 win over FDU-Florham, Saturday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Anthony Yarabinee scored twice and Max Gariano had a goal and an assist.  Drew Weaver, Richard Billings and Brandon Ebersole added goals as the Cougars improved to 9-1-4 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Andrew Daubenspeck made five saves and combined with Mason Heyward on the shutout.

The Cougars grabbed an early lead when Gariano played a ball from the right edge of the box to Yarabinee, who settled and placed a left-footed strike into the upper left corner at 3:36.

Justin Yarabinee nearly joined his brother on the stat sheet midway through the first half, but his shot form eight yards out was saved near the right post.

Daubenspeck denied FDU's best chances of the night on back-to-back corners in the 35th minute.  After tipping a shot over the bar, he stopped a point-blank shot off the second corner to preserve the shutout.

MU threatened late in the first half when Alexei King's free kick from the left sideline was saved over the crossbar at 44:30.

The Cougars struck quickly in the second half as they countered off an FDU corner.  Gariano carried the ball down the left side and centered a pass to Weaver who buried a shot from the top of the box for a 2-0 lead at 52:37.

Luke Ferrarese gathered a loose ball in the box and touched a pass to Anthony Yarabinee whose blast made it 3-0 at 63:36.

Patrick Sipera's serve form the left edge of the box was headed home by Gariano to give the Cougars a 4-0 lead at 67:54.

King's free kick from the left wing was played away by the Devils keeper and he served the rebound to Billings for a goal and 5-0 lead at 70:30.

Ebersole scored unassisted to give MU a 6-0 lead at 85:44.
