The Misericordia University men's soccer team played to its fourth tie of the season with a scoreless draw against Swarthmore, Tuesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Andrew Daubenspeck made five saves to earn his fourth shutout of the year.
Swarthmore held a 12-7 edge in shots, including a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal, but the Cougars had more dangerous opportunities.
Early in the first half,
Justin Yarabinee had a throw-in from the right side.Â
Drew Weaver flicked the ball into the box and MU got a touch near the right post, but the Swarthmore keeper covered the ball in front.
Luke Ferrarese, sent a free kick from 25 yards out over the wall and over the cross at 8:38.
MU's best chance of the first half came when a Swarthmore corner was deflected and
Eric Goldberg gathered the ball on the left sideline. He played a through ball to
Logan Moore who got a shot off from just outside the box, but the Garnet keeper charged off his line to make a sliding save.
Early in the second half,
Anthony Yarabinee's throw from the left side was headed just wide of the left post by
Justin Yarabinee. The Garnet keeper played the ball, but it squirted loose and played across the goal mouth and MU's shot close range was denied by a sliding save at the opposite post.
Swarthmore's most dangerous look came at 59:37 when a sinking direct kick from 25 yards out was covered on a short-hop by Daubenspeck.
The Cougars last opportunity came in the 74
th minute on a quick counter from Goldberg to
Patrick Sipera on the right wing, but the shot was saved at the right post.
Misericordia is 8-1-4 and return to MAC Freedom action when they travel to DeSales, Saturday.
