The Misericordia University volleyball season came to an end with a 3-1 loss at Arcadia in the MAC Freedom semifinals, Wednesday night.
MU dropped the first two sets by identical 25-20 scores before taking the third set, 25-17. Arcadia took the clincher, 25-13.
Faith Merritt led the Cougars with 14 kills and
Sadie Stockslager added nine.
Jenna Schuda had 41 assists and 16 digs and
Jessica Cleveland added 15 digs.
Arcadia scored three straight points to break a 12-12 tie in the opening set. MU eventually rallied to get within 22-20, but the Knights closed the set with three straight points.
The Knights scored four straight points to take a 5-3 lead and never trailed again in the second set.
Shelby Hastings, Stotckslager and Merritt had kills as the Cougars built a 19-14 lead in the third set.
Merritt had two kills as part of a 5-0 run to end the set with a 25-17 win.
Arcadia scored six straight points to take a 7-3 lead in the finale and eventually built a 20-10 lead.
The Knights scored five of the last six points of the advance to win and advance to the finals.
Misericordia finished 22-10.
