The Misericordia University women's basketball team clinched a first round home game in the upcoming MAC Freedom Championships with a 57-45 win at Lycoming, Tuesday.

Gianna Delfino led the Cougars with 16 points and six rebounds and
Alyssa Bondi added 13 points.

Morgan Haefele had 10 points and six rebounds.

Bondi hit a three-pointer midway through the first quarter to give the Cougars an 8-6 lead that they never relinquished.

Delfino and
Skylar Bianchi both scored to stretch MU's lead to 12-6 and the Cougars eventually led 13-11 after one period.

Elizabeth Fasti hit a three-pointer with 2:58 left in the second quarter to give MU a 22-14 lead.

Fasti added a jumper and Bondi converted a three-point play for a 27-16 lead with less than a minute remaining before halftime.

Lycoming got within three points early in the third quarter, but Delfino answered with a three-point play to make it 32-26.

Delfino converted another three-point play a minute later and Haefele hit a three-pointer to give MU a 38-27 lead with 4:31 to play in the third period.

The Warriors rallied to get within 42-38 heading to the fourth quarter.

Haefele connected on a pair of three-pointers to put MU up 55-41 midway through the fourth period and neither team scored over the final 3:27 of the game.
The Cougars are 14-10 and will host FDU-Florham in their regular season finale, Saturday.
