The Misericordia University softball team opened the 2022 season with a sweep at Shenandoah, Sunday.
The Cougars took the opener, 11-2, in five innings and won the nightcap, 10-0, in six innings.
Miranda Bohn had three hits and four RBI and Bri Holder and
Kaitlin Redling both had two hits and drove in two runs.
Alexa McHugh struck out six over three innings to get the win and
Emily Wenner struck out three over two innings.
The Cougars scored four runs in the top of the first inning and put the game away with seven runs in the third.
Bohn had a two-run single to give the Cougars the lead and Holder and
Marisa Kelly both had RBI-singles in the first inning.
Bohn had a two-run single and Redling added a two-run double to highlight the third inning.
Redling had three hits, including a double and a homer, and two RBI in the second game and
Megan Murphy had two hits and two RBI.Â
Nicole Elliott and
Emma Griffin had two hits each and McHugh drove in two runs.
Bohn struck out four over five innings to get the win and
Erin McGee tossed a scoreless sixth.
