Box Score The Misericordia University softball team suffered its first loss of the season in a 3-2 defeat to Ohio Northern, Sunday in Leesburg, Florida.

MU's game with York was cancelled.

The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.

Ohio Northern went in front with three runs in the top of the fifth.

Kaitlin Redling had two hits for MU while Bri Holder had an RBI.

Zariah Alvin and Alexa McHugh both scored runs.  McHugh struck out nine and allowed just three hits while suffering the loss.

Alvin led off the third inning with a walk and moved up when McHugh was hit by a pitch.

Alvin scored when Nicole Elliott reached on an error and Redling drew a one-out walk to load the bases.  Holder made it 2-0 with a sacrifice fly to left.

The Cougars threatened in the bottom of the sixth when Emma Griffin and Alvin walked, but were stranded.

MU will play Heidelberg and Catholic, Monday afternoon.
