The Misericordia University men's basketball team will open the MAC Freedom Championships at Arcadia, Wednesday, February 23.
The Cougars are seeded sixth after finishing 7-9 in league play while the Knights are seeded third. Arcadia won both regular season meetings between the teams.
Misericordia leads the league in scoring with 76.1 points per game and features three double-digit scorers in
Elijah Rosenthal (12.3 ppg),
Kevin Lazdowsky (12.2 ppg) and
Nate Kreitzer (11.2 ppg).
Nick Hornung adds 9.5 ppg and leads the league in field goal percentage (59.3) while Lazdowsky leads the league in three-point shooting (48.2%).
Kreitzer is second in the league in assists per game (4.2) and assist/turnover ratio (1.5).
MU leads the league with 248 three-point field goals while Arcadia is tops in the league in three-point percentage (37.5).
Jalen Watkins leads the Knights in scoring and rebounding with 13.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
The last time the two teams met in the postseason was in the 2002 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference quarterfinals when current MU head coach
Will Chandler led the Cougars to a 100-68 win.
The MU/Arcadia winner will meet the DeSales/King's winner in Saturday's semifinals.
