The Misericordia University baseball team earned a dramatic split at DeSales to take the season series and give head coach
Pete Egbert his 500
th career victory, Saturday.
After dropping the opener, the Cougars turned an unusual double play to end a 10-9 win in the nightcap.
DeSales appeared to tie the game on a sacrifice fly, but the trail runner was ruled out for leaving early.
Matt Lanzendorfer worked 2.2 shutout innings to earn a win for the second straight day and
Joe Valenti worked the seventh to earn the save.
Brock Bollinger had two hits and three RBI and
Connor Maryniak and
Derrick Vosburg both drove in two runs.
The Cougars took advantage of seven walks and seven hit batters.
Joe Comins had three hits for the Cougars in a 17-6 loss in the opener.
MU improved to 13-7 overall and 5-1 in the MAC Freedom.
