A late rally fell short as the Misericordia University baseball team dropped its Florida opener to Baldwin Wallace, 12-11, Saturday in Port Charlotte.
The Cougars scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to get within a run, but left two runners stranded.
Santino Manganella had four hits and two RBI and
Connor Maryniak had two hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs.
Austin Miles and
Brady Madden had two hits each.
Jared Kay and
Joe Valenti combined for three shutout innings of relief.
