The Misericordia University women's tennis team opened its MAC Freedom schedule with a 5-4 win at DeSales, Saturday.

Brianna Pizzano was a double-winner Cassie Benderavich earned 7-5, 3-6, 7-7 (7-4) win at fifth singles to clinch the win.

Pizzano won at first singles and teamed with Emily Brecker to win at first doubles.

Hailey Loughlin and Lydia Barbour added singles wins as the Cougars improved to 7-0 overall.

Pizzano and Brecker won 8-7 (7-5) in doubles and Pizzano was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at first singles.

Loughlin won 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 at third singles and Barbour won 6-2, 6-4 at number four to set up Benderavich for the clincher.

The Cougars will host Lycoming, Tuesday.
