The Misericordia University baseball team picked up a pair of shutout conference wins over Stevens, Saturday afternoon at Tambur Field.
MU took the opener, 1-0, and wrapped up the doubleheader with a 4-0 victory and clinched a spot in the MAC Freedom championships for the 11th straight season.
In the opener,
Brendan Gray scored the only run of the game on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning for the walk-off win.
David McCurry threw a complete-game shutout in the nightcap and
Owen VanNewkirk blasted a three-run homer.
In game one, Gray went 1-1 with two walks while
Connor Maryniak had two hits.
Isaac Snyder threw 5.2 innings with four strikeouts and
Tyler Leonard picked up the win in relief.
Gray led off the seventh inning with a walk and Maryniak reached on an infield single. Â
Santino Manganella advanced the runners with a sacrifice and
Joe Comins was intentionally walked to load the bases before Gray scored the winning run.
In game two, the Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second without the benefit of a hit.Â
Derrick Vosburg and
Brock Bollinger both reached via hit by pitch and Van Newkirk walked to load the bases before
Austin Miles drove in a run on a fielder's choice.
Brady Madden led off the fifth inning with a double off the left-field wall and Vosburg walked before VanNewkirk connected on a three-run shot to left field to extend the Cougars lead.
McCurry struck out six and allowed only four hits over seven innings while retiring 11 of the final 12 batters he faced and extended his scoreless innings streak to 13.

MU plays a two-game series with Keystone on the road Monday and at home Wednesday.
