The Misericordia University softball team won its 10
th straight game with a 2-1, 4-1 sweep at Stevens, Saturday.
Alexa McHugh struck out eight to earn the complete-game win in the opener and aided her own cause with a hit and a run scored.
Kaitlin Redling had a hit and an RBI and
Antonia Pacillo drove in a run.
Redling,
Nicole Elliott and
Miranda Bohn all had two hits in the nightcap and Bohn scattered six hits to earn the win.
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the third inning of the opener. McHugh reached on an error and eventually scored on Redling's two-out single to left.
Stevens tied it in the bottom of the inning and MU scored the game-winner in their next at bat. Bri Holder and pinch-runner
Lilo Garrett moved up on
Brianna Burd's walk and advanced to third on a fielder's choice.
Pacillo followed with a sacrifice fly to left to plate the winning run.
In the nightcap, McHugh and Elliott walked to open the game and Redling reached via hit by pitch to load the bases. Bohn singled to center to drive in a run and Holder's sacrifice fly made it 2-0.
Emma Griffin drew a two-out walk to re-load the bases and Pacillo walked on four pitches to make it 3-0.
Elliott singled with one out in the second and moved up on Redling's single through the left side. Bohn reached on a fielder's choice and Elliott came around on a muffed throw to make it 4-0.
Misericordia is 21-6 overall and 11-1 in the MAC Freedom.
The Cougars will travel to Marywood, Sunday.
