The Misericordia University field hockey team opened the season with a dominant 2-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy, Thursday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Lily Metress had a goal and an assist and Tatyanna Lainez added a goal.

Morgan Walsh had an assist.

MU had 14 shots while holding the Griffins without a shot.

Lainez tapped in a rebound of a shot by Metress to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead just 1:28 into the game.

Metress made it 2-0 when she deflected a shot by Walsh midway through the second quarter.

The Cougars will travel to Moravian, Saturday.
