The Misericordia University field hockey team opened its MAC Freedom schedule with tough 3-2 overtime loss at FDU-Florham, Friday evening.
Tatyanna Lainez had a goal and an assist for the Cougars and
Meghan Radnoff added a goal.
FDU-Florham scored the game-winner just under three minutes into OT.
After falling behind just two minutes into the game, the Cougars controlled the play and earned six corners and took four shots over the next eight minutes.
MU tied the game on Lainez' goal off a corner with an assist from
Lily Metress with less than five minutes left in the first half.
Following a scoreless third period, Radnoff put MU in front with an assist from Lainez off a cordner at 47:05.
The Devils answered less than three minutes later to tie the score, 2-2.
Misericordia threatened late as the Cougars earned three corners and took four shots over the final nine minutes.
Both teams earned 14 penalty corners while FDU-Florham had a 12-11 advantage in shots.
MU will host Ramapo, Wednesday.
