Ramapo Field Hockey Edges Cougars

Ramapo scored the only goal of the game early in the second half to edge the Misericordia University field hockey team, 1-0, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Sarah Bogina made two saves in goal for the Cougars.

After a scoreless first period, MU took advantage of three straight Ramapo fouls to move the ball downfield early in the second quarter, but the Cougars were unable to get a shot off.

MU's best chance of the first half came on a re-start at 21:28 when Morgan Walsh took a feed from the right flank and blasted a shot from just inside the circle that was denied.

The Cougars threatened again late in the first half when Tatyanna Lainez dribbled in from the right wing and drew a corner with 2:20 to play , but Shannon Murphy's shot from the middle of the circle was
saved.

Ramapo took the lead just over five minutes into the second half.

MU earned a corner with less nine minutes to play and Morgan Walsh a back-handed shot that was wide of the left post.

The Cougars managed two corners and three shots in a flurry in the closing minutes, but were unable to finish.

Misericordia will visit Wilkes, Saturday.
