The Misericordia University women's volleyball team swept a pair of matches at the Union/Russell Sage Crosstown Challenge, Friday night.
The Cougars beat Skidmore, 3-2, before sweeping host Union, 3-0.
In the opener,
Faith Merritt led MU with 18 kills while
Fiona Pyfer added 15 kills.
Pyfer and
Jessica Cleveland had three aces each and
Sophie Winter had a team-high four blocks.
Annika Massa had 29 assists and
Delaney Boyd had 12 digs while Merritt and Pyfer both had nine digs.
The Cougars took the first set, 25-23, before dropping two straight. MU won the fourth set, 25-21.
Merritt had two straight kills and Cleveland had two aces as the Cougars scored four straight points to take the fifth set, 15-12.
In the nightcap, Pyfer had 13 kills and 14 digs to lead a 25-22, 25-16, 25-21 win.
Merritt had eight kills and
Jenna Schuda had 28 assists and three aces.
Misericordia is 6-3 and will face Oneonta and Russell Sage, Saturday afternoon.
