The Misericordia University field hockey team got back into the win column with a 6-1 win at Wilkes, Saturday.
The Cougars are now 3-4 overall and evened their conference record at 1-1.
Lily Metress had two goals and two assists and
Emily Ervin scored the first two goals of her colligate career.Â
Shannon Murphy scored and had an assist and
Tatyanna Lainez added a score.
After a scoreless opening period, the Cougars stuck in the second with an Ervin goal off a penalty stroke to take a 1-0 lead.
With barely a minute left in the second, Metress added a goal off an assist from
Madison Posivak to give the Cougars a two-score lead going into the half.
In the 22nd minute, Sara Bogina saved a pair of shots to keep the Colonels scoreless.
Near the end of the third, Misericordia scored back-to-back goals in a 90-second window. Lainez added a goal with just over a minute left in the third and Murphy scored within the first 15 seconds of the fourth.
Metress and Ervin both scored their second goals of the afternoon in the fourth period.
The Cougars dominated the shots battle, 21-7.
MU will return to non-conference action and host Susquehanna, Tuesday at 7:00.
