9/7/2022 10:48:00 PM

The seventh-ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team continued its unbeaten season with an overwhelming 7-0 win over Lebanon Valley College, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Emma Sweitzer had the third hat trick of her career and Michaela Fasolino scored twice for the second consecutive game.

Sabrina Competiello contributed with two assists and Emma Stroud made two saves on both shots she faced.

Carly Stoner struck first in the 21st minute with a left-footed shot from 20 yards.

Switzer came up with a goal in the 33rd minute after making a heads-up steal deep in LVC territory.

In the 41st minute, Competiello went coast-to-coast and dumped off a pass to Sweitzer, who made a move to find the back net.

MU came out with the momentum in the second half, striking first in the 50th minute after Fasolino scored on a penalty kick.

Three minutes later, Fasolino answered the call with a long ball after a throw in.

Sweitzer finessed her way into the box after putting a move on a defender and beat the keeper to complete the hat trick.

Colleen Kinsella added the final blow in the 87th minute after Competiello delivered a perfectly placed ball 10 yards outside the goal.

Misericordia won the shots battle, 27-2.

The Cougars will host Farmingdale, Nazareth and St. Lawrence University, Saturday and Sunday.

Coach Stauffer's Comments: "I thought we started a little slow for the first 15 minutes or so, but after we settled into the game I thought we got really creative in our movements and we played well with details for the rest of the match.  It was was good to finally have a solid finishing night and I thought our reserves were really good tonight I'm excited for what they're going to bring to our program not only this season but moving forward
