The Misericordia University women's basketball team used a big run late in the third quarter to seal a 56-46 win at Wilkes, Wednesday.

Skylar Dowling led the Cougars with 13 points and Melina Santacroce added 11 points and six rebounds.  Skylar Bianchi scored 10 points and Morgan Haefele had eight points, seven rebounds and six assists while Meaghan McCaffrey had six rebounds.

Leading 34-28, the Cougars went on an 18-1 run over the final three minutes of the third quarter to take a 43-29 lead.

Jordan Postiglione made a jumper to start the run and Santacroce's layup made it 38-28 with 2:13 to go.  Elizabeth Fasti hit a three-pointer and Santacroce sank two free throws for a 43-28 lead with :28 left.

Haefele converted a three-point play on a fastbreak to end the quarter with MU up, 46-29.

The Colonels never got closer than nine points over the final 10 minutes.

After Wilkes scored the opening basket, the Cougars went on a 16-4 to take a 16-6 lead after one period.

Dowling led the charge with eight points, including a pair of three-pointers, over the fin 3:36.
