The Misericordia University volleyball team beat DeSales, 3-1, in a key MAC Freedom match, Wednesday night in Center Valley.
 
Fiona Pyfer had 17 kills, 16 digs, three blocks and two aces to lead the Cougars.
 
Cassandra Genduso had 16 kills and Meghan Peters added 13 kills.
 
Jenna Schuda had 44 assists and Sarah Kelly had five blocks.
 
The Cougars trailed early in the first set, but two kills by Pyfer bookended a 4-0 run to tie the score 11-11.  Kills by Genduso and Peters helped the Cougars take their first lead, 14-13.
 
Schuda's ace gave MU a 22-19 lead, but DeSales scored two straight points to get within 22-21.  Following a DeSales error, Genduso's kills and Pyfer's ace closed out the 25-21 win.
 
Pyfer had two kills as the Cougars broke a 9-9 tie to go in front for good in the second set.  Sadie Stockslager and Peters had kills to stretch the lead to 22-16 and Pyfer closed the 25-20 win with a kill.
 
DeSales held off an MU rally to win the third set, 25-23.
 
Pyfer's ace and two kills by Genduso gave MU a 7-3 lead in the finale and they never looked back.
