The Misericordia University field hockey team dropped a hard-fought 2-0 decision to Scranton, Tuesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

The Royals scored on a penalty stroke late in the third quarter and added an insurance goal on a rebound late in the fourth quarter.

After a defensive battle through the first half, the Cougars had the first good scoring chance of the night early in the third quarter when Ashley Pitz' shot was cleared off the line by a Scranton defender.

Meghan Radnoff had another opportunity for the Cougars off a corner late in the third quarter, but her shot was just wide of the right post.

Haley Harper had five saves in goal for Misericordia.
