The Misericordia University volleyball team suffered its first league loss, 3-0, to Stevens, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.
Fiona Pyfer led the Cougars with nine kills while
Jenna Schuda had 16 assists and nine digs.
The Cougars fell behind 5-1 in the opener, but Pyfer's smash into the right corner and ace got them within 6-4.Â
Cassandra Genduso's kill and an ace by
Adele Decker cut the margin to 7-6, but the Ducks answered with five straight points and went to win, 25-13.
Schuda's kill and three Stevens errors staked MU to a 4-0 lead in the second set.
A kill from
Sadie Stockslager and Genduso's ace keyed a 4-0 run to give MU a 12-5 lead.
Stockslager a long rally with a kill in the right corner and Genduso added two kills make it 17-11.
Stevens rallied and used a 6-0 run to take its first lead, 19-18.
Pyfer had back-to-back kills to cap a 4-0 to put MU back in front, 22-19, but Stevens closed with six of the final seven points to win, 25-23.
The Cougars took advantage of four Stevens errors to take a 7-6 lead in the finale, but the Ducks answered with four straight points and never trailed again.
