The Misericordia University women's basketball team used a big third quarter to pull away for a 65-50 win over Salisbury, Saturday afternoon on Doc Mould Court.
Chloe Captoni and
Alyssa Bondi scored 13 points each while
Jocelyn Grosch had 12 and
Skylar Bianchi added 10.
Grosch added eight rebounds and Caitlin had eight points and eight rebounds in just 20 minutes.
Down 28-27 after a back-and-forth first half, the Cougars opened the third quarter with an 11-1 run to go in front for good.
Bianchi opened the second half with a jumper in the lane to give MU a 29-28 lead. She converted a fast break layup and added a short turnaround jumper to give MU ad 33-29 lead less than two minutes into the third quarter.
Skylar Dowling's floater and three-pointer by Grosch from the left corner gave the Cougars a 38-29 lead.
The Cougars scored nine straight points late in the period to extend their lead to 52-37.
Bondi made a pair of free throws to start the run and Captoni drilled a three-pointer from the left corner to make it 48-37.
Bianchi hit a long jumper from the left baseline and Bondi got a friendly roll on a floater to give MU a 52-37 lead with :14 left in the period.
Captoni buried a three-pointer from the left wing to give MU its biggest lead of the day, 60-39, and the Cougars cruised over the final 8:40.
