Alyssa Bondi set a school record for three-pointers and went over the 1,000-point mark for her career to lead the Misericordia University women's basketball team to a 102-43 win over FDU-Florham in their regular season finale, Saturday afternoon on Dr. Michael Mould Court.
Bondi made nine three-pointers to break the school single-game record of Misericordia Hall of Famer Colleen Corrigan. She made eight three-pointers in the first half, including one from the right wing with 4:09 to play, to reach the milestone.
Ten different players made three-pointers as the Cougars set a school record with 20 made baskets from beyond the arc.
Bondi scored a game-high 29 points and
Katie Ryan added 11 points and nine rebounds.
Jocelyn Grosch added nine points and
Meaghan McCaffrey had eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Bondi and
Morgan Haefele combined for three consecutive three-pointers to give MU a 9-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.
Bondi added a pull-up jumper and McCaffrey had a putback to make it 13-0 with 6:46 left in the first period.
Bondi ended the first quarter with 14 points as the Cougars led 28-4.
Bondi hit three straight three-pointers in the second quarter to reach the milestone and give the Cougars a 52-13 lead.
Misericordia will open the MAC Freedom championships at Stevens, Wednesday.
