Montclair used a big second quarter to break open a close game in a 21-12 win over Misericordia University in men's lacrosse action, Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
The Red Hawks scored six straight goals in the second quarter to break a 5-5 tie.
Connor Bevan led the Cougars with four goals and two assists and
Kyle Vandenberg had four goals.
Trey Stasse and
Ryan Ott both had three groundballs.
Montclair took a 1-0 lead just over a minute into the game, but Bevan answered with a goal from the left win less than a minute later.
Bevan's goal in the top left corner gave the Cougars a 2-1 lead with 11:48 left in the first quarter.
Montclair scored three goals in a four-minute span and Bevan responded with two straight goals to pull the Cougars even, 4-4, with 2:13 left in the opening period.
The Red Hawks took a 5-4 lead after one quarter and Vandenberg tied it when he bounced a shot inside the right post in the opening minute of the second quarter.
