Maryniak Lifts MU to Fifth Straight Win

Connor Maryniak struck out seven over six innings aided his own cause with a two-run homer and three runs scored as the Misericordia University baseball team won its fifth straight game with a 15-4 win over Lebanon Valley, 15-4, Monday in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Gabe Bunn went 3-5 with a run and an RBI and Brady Madden had a double and a team-high three RBI.

Brendan Gray went yard for the second time in the last three games while Randy Mateo also connected on a homer.

Garrett McIlhenney reached base five times and Mike Murphy added an RBI-double.

Madden got the Cougars offense started with a SAC fly to score McIlhenney in the first. The Dutchmen answered with a run in the bottom of the frame.

Bunn drew a walk to lead off the third and later scored on a wild pitch as the Cougars regained the lead.

A five-run fourth inning started off with a Brock Bollinger walk, which precipitated a Maryniak bomb to deep left-center.

A McIlhenney single through the right side scored Gray, and Madden drove in two on a blooper down the right field line as the Cougars jumped to a 7-1 lead.

LVC added two runs in the fourth, but Maryniak got out of a bases-loaded jam with a strikeout to end the threat.

Misericordia got the runs back with a two-run shot from Gray in the top of the seventh. Bunn laid down a bunt down the third base line to plate Josh Burger to make it 10-4.

In the bottom of the eighth, Matthew Lanzendorfer retired all three Dutchmen on swinging strikeouts.

After Jared Hoffman scored on Murphy's double to center, Mateo blasted a 1-1 pitch to center for the first home run of his collegiate career.

Adam Juchnik struck out two in a scoreless ninth to seal the win.

Misericordia is back in action with St. John's (MN), tomorrow at 10:30.
