The Misericordia University softball team split a doubleheader with Gordon and St. Joseph's of Maine, Tuesday in Kissimmee, FL.

The Cougars lost to Gordon in the opener, 5-3, but defeated St. Joseph's, 5-2, in the nightcap.

Gordon scored for runs in the first inning and held on for the win in the opener.

Kaitlin Redling hit a solo homer and
Gianna Foreman had two hits while
Nicole Elliott had a double.
Â
Elliott and Forman both doubled in the second inning and Redling hit a solo homer in the sixth.
Â
The Cougars brought the trying run to the plate in the top of the seventh, but were unable to score a run.

In the nightcap, Redling doubled and homered and Elliot had two hits.

Emily Wenner scattered seven hits over five innings to earn the win and
Alexa McHugh struck out four over two innings to pick up the save.

MU went in front with a three-run fifth inning and added an insurance run in the sixth.

Down 2-1 in the fifth,
Bridget Doherty drew a one-out walk and Elliott singled one out later. Redling hit a three-run homer to give the Cougars a 4-2 lead.

In the sixth,
Marisa Kelly drew a lead-off walk and pinch-runner
Olivia Hull stole second. Doherty singled through the left side and Hull advanced to third before coming home on McHugh's RBI-ground out.
