The Misericordia University softball team dropped a pair of slugfests, Thursday in Kissimmee, Fl.

The Cougars dropped the opener to Mt. Union, 10-6, before Otterbein rallied for a 10-9 win in the nightcap.

Mt. Union jumped out to a quick lead in the opener and held off an MU comeback.

Down, 5-0 after one inning, the Cougars scored five times in the fourth to tie the score.

Gianna Foreman led off the frame with a double and
Mackenzie Fizer walked before
Gianna Russo got the Cougars on the board with a single down the right field line.Â
Emma Griffin made it 5-2 with a sac fly and the Cougars took advantage of an infield single and two errors to tie the score.

Mt. Union answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.

Bridget Doherty,
Alexa McHugh, Foreman, Griffin and
Emily Susanj all had two hits for MU.

Against Otterbein, the Cougars jumped to a big lead, but the Cardinals scored in every inning to complete the comeback.

The Cougars led 6-1 after one inning and stretched the lead to 9-3 after three innings.

Otterbein scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead and the Cougars left the potential winning run on base in the bottom of the seventh.

Kaitlin Redling hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first and
Marisa Kelly and
Elizabeth Kelly drew bases-loaded walks before McHugh was hit by a pitch to force MU's sixth run home.

The Cougars extended their lead with three runs in the third inning as
Nicole Elliott and
Gianna Foreman sandwiched bases-loaded walks around an RBI-ground out by Kaitlin Hastings.

Redling drove in for runs and Doherty had two hits.
