Elizabeth Kelly hit a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to complete a five-run rally to lift the Misericordia University softball team to a 12-11 win and a doubleheader sweep over Stevens, Friday at Anderson Field.

After taking the opener, 8-1, the Cougars rallied in each of the last three innings to stay alive in the nightcap to win their seventh straight.

Alexa McHugh struck out six over five innings in the opener and
Gianna Russo had three hits and drove in two runs.

Nicole Elliott hit a two-run homer and
Emma Griffin had two hits.

Elliott,
Kaitlin Redling and
Brianna Burd all homered in the nightcap.

Jennifer Milisits got two outs in the top of the eighth to earn her first collegiate win in relief.

In the opener, the Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Russo singled with one out and Elliott homered to left.

Russo homered to center to open the third and Redling singled with one out. McHugh, Griffin and Burd followed with three straight singles to give the Cougars a 5-1 lead.

Gianna Foreman drove in a run with a bases-loaded fielder's choice to make it 6-1 in the fourth and
Bridget Doherty and Russo both drove in runs to make it 8-1 in the fifth.

In the nightcap, the Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on Redling's solo homer.

After Stevens tied it in the third, MU went up 2-1 in the fourth on Griffin's single up the middle.

The Ducks took a 5-2 lead in the fifth and the Cougars got one back in their half on Russo's sacrifice fly.

Redling singled to open the sixth and Burd blasted a two-run pinch-hit homer to tie the score, 5-5.

Stevens went back in front in the top of the seventh and the Cougars rallied again in the bottom. Russo doubled to left center and Elliott homered to pull even, 7-7.

Stevens erupted for four runs in the top of eighth to take an 11-7 lead, but the Cougars again were up to the task.

Zariah Alvin drew a lead-off walk and Russo singled before back-to-back-to-back walks to Elliott, Redling and Burd forced in two runs. Griffin's sacrifice fly got the Cougars within 11-10.Â
Mackenzie Fizer walked to load the bases and Kelly doubled to left center to end the game.
