The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team fell at #23 Stevens, 10-5, in the MAC Freedom championship game, Saturday.
Kylee Cush had a goal and two assists for the Cougars and
Michelle Torzilli scored twice.
Molly Celesky had a goal and an assist.
Makenzie Tumini and
Rachel Shook had three draw controls and
Madelyn Uetz made nine saves in goal.
Locked in a defensive struggle throughout the first period, Stevens got on the board with 2:37 to play. Cush answered with a free position goal just over a minute later to tie the score.
The Ducks scored four goals in a five-minute span in the second quarter to take a 5-1 lead.
Celesky scored with 3:15 to play in the second quarter, but Stevens answered with 1:06 left to take a 6-2 halftime lead.
The Ducks scored twice in the third to stretch the lead to 8-2.
Genevieve Montanye scored late in the third and Torzilli scored twice in the fourth to get MU within 8-5.
Stevens added a pair of insurance goals over the final 9:03.
