Celeste Hoffman scored with less than a minute to play to lead the Misericordia University field hockey team to a 4-3 win at FDU-Florham, Saturday evening.
Hoffman scored with :55 to go to break a 3-3 tie.
Lily Metress scored twice and
Emily Ervin added a goal while
Ellie Hershey had two assists.
FDU-Florham took a 1-0 lead in the opening minute and Metress tied it midway through the second quarter.
Ervin gave the Cougars the lead on a stroke with less than five minutes left in the third quarter.
Metress put MU back in front, 3-2, with just under eight minutes to play.
The Devils scored twice in just over a minute to regain the lead, 3-2, with less than four minutes remaining.
With the clock ticking down, Hershey made a steal and sent a pass into the circle that was deflected behind the Devils goalie where Hoffman tapped it inside the right post for the game-winner.
