Men's Soccer Plays to Draw at DeSales

The Misericordia University men's soccer team recorded their third 0-0 tie of the season in their MAC Freedom matchup at DeSales, Saturday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Santino Jannotte was stellar in net for MU, making six saves to secure his third clean sheet of the season.

Jannotte made his first save of the day at 7:28, dropping to the lower left portion of the goal.

Less than a minute later, Shane Macko responded with MU's first offensive opportunity. His shot to the lower right corner was turned aside by the Bulldog's goalkeeper.

Anthony Yarabinee followed up Macko's attempt with a shot of his own at 13:30, but was also stoned by DSU's keeper.

Drew Weaver came inches from putting Misericordia on the board at 14:37 with a shot that rang the right post.

Outside of a blocked shot for DeSales, neither team could find their footing on offense for the remainder of the first half. After 45 minutes, the Bulldogs outshot the Cougars 4-3 and were awarded three corner kicks to MU's one.

Elijah Uray delivered the first shot of the second half at 49:54, a low ball that was scooped up by DeSales' keeper.

Jannotte made his second save of the afternoon in the 56th minute, moving to his right to shut down a scoring bid by the Bulldogs.

Richard Billings recorded Misericordia's fourth shot on goal at 66:03; a low ball that was smothered by DeSales' goalkeeper.

In the 70th minute, Jannotte came up with two crucial saves to keep the Bulldogs off the board. On a DSU corner, he made a diving save to his right on a header from in close. After DeSales recovered the ball, he denied another chance from the top of the box that was earmarked for the right side of the net.

After moving the ball down the field, the Cougars had another chance as Stevan Patino sent a ball towards goal at 73:26. His shot was saved to keep the score deadlocked at 0-0.

Misericordia found themselves with a final scoring chance before time expired in the second half as Spencer Pisani fired a ball that just missed the goal to the right. The final horn sounded, securing the 0-0 tie.

The Cougars return home to face Arcadia University, Tuesday at 7:00.
