Stevenson used a big second half to pull away as the Misericordia University football team closed its home schedule with a 56-17 loss to the Mustangs, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.

Stevenson scored 21 points in the final 10 minutes to clinch the win.

Down 7-0 after Stevenson scored on its second possession of the game, the Cougars tied the score, 7-7, on
Logan Tierney's plunge early in the second quarter.

The Mustangs scored three touchdowns over the final 9:24 of the first half to take a 28-7 lead.

Connor McLaughlin kicked a 35-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to get MU with 28-10.

Stevenson took a 35-10 lead late in the third quarter and the Cougars answered with a 22-yard scoring pass from
Ronnie Borden to
Jordan Alston with 4:35 to play in the third period.

The Mustangs put the game out reach with three touchdowns in the fourth period.

Owen McGuffey led the Cougars with three catches for 74 yards.

Gavin Morris had a team-high 16 tackles and
R.J. Tocco had six tackles and an interception.
