MU Hosting NCAA Women's Soccer Saturday at 11:00

Misericordia University will host the first and second rounds of the 2024 NCAA Women's Soccer Championships, Saturday and Sunday, November 16-17, at Mangelsdorf Field.

The sixth-ranked Cougars will face Grove City in the opener, Saturday at 11:00 a.m.  Penn State Behrend and Ithaca will play in game two at 1:30.  The winners will advance to the second round, Sunday at 1:00 for the right to move on the regional round next weekend.

Misericordia, 17-1-2, is making its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

Grove City, 13-3-3, earned its second straight NCAA Tournament berth with a 4-3 win over Westminster in the President's Athletic Conference finals.  This is the second ever meeting between MU and GCC and first since the 2010 ECAC Championships.

Misericordia is led by MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Year and co-Defensive Player of the Year Brenna Field.

Beck is second on the team with seven goals while Field anchored a defense that allowed just nine goals.

Emma Sweitzer leads MU with 14 goals and two assists and Madison Brdaric has five goals and a team-high eight assists.

The Cougars' balanced attack features four other players with at least five goals, including Sabrina Competiello (7), Alyssa Steenback (6), Olivia Maniskas (5) and Haleigh Wintersteen (5).

Misericordia is 19th in the country with a 0.45 goals against average and is 22nd in the nation with 3.10 goals per game.

The Wolverines are eighth in the nation with 3.68 goals per game and Emma Herrmann of Grove City is 14th in the nation with 1.05 goals per game.
