The Misericordia University volleyball team will visit Stevens for the MAC Freedom championship match, Saturday at 1:00.
The Cougars, 25-8, are playing for the MAC Freedom title for the first time in school history and are making their first finals appearance since their 1997 runner-up finish in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.
Misericordia advanced to the finals with a 3-0 sweep at DeSales. Stevens rallied with three straight wins to defeat Lebanon Valley in the semifinals, 3-1.
The Cougars have four players in the top eight in the MAC Freedom in hitting percentage.Â
Keira McCaffrey (.350) is second while
Jenna Schuda (.332) is fourth and
Cassandra Genduso (.288) and
Meghan Peters (.273) are eighth and ninth, respectively.
Sarah Journey has .64 aces per set to lead five MU players in the top seven in the league. Peters (.57) and Cleveland (.57) are tied for fourth while Genduso (.55) is sixth and Schuda (.50) is seventh.
Schuda is third in the league with 8.64 assists per set McCaffrey is fifth in the league with .73 blocks per set.
Stevens won the regular season meeting, 3-0, in Hoboken in the MAC Freedom opener for both teams nearly two months ago. The Ducks won the first two sets by identical 25-23 scores before taking the finale, 25-18.
