Matt Prociak and
Kevin Lazdowsky combined for 53 points to lead the Misericordia University men's basketball team to an 81-69 win over Swarthmore, Tuesday night on Doc Mould Court.
Prociak had 28 points and 14 rebounds and Lazdowsky had 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Eli Stoute added 13 points as the Cougars led from wire-to-wire to improve to 4-1.
Lazdowsky opened the game with a three-point play and the Cougars never trailed. Lazdowsky followed with a jumper from the right baseline and Stoute and Prociak had back-to-back layups to give the Cougars a 9-2 lead just over two minutes into the game.
After the Garnet got within one point, 11-10, with 16:01 left in the first half, Stoute buried a three-pointer from in front of the Swarthmore bench and the Cougars lead was never less than four points.
Prociak drained a three-pointer from the left wing to stretch the lead to 27-18 with 6:36 left in the first half.
Jack Gallagher drilled a three-pointer from the right corner to close the first half scoring and the Cougars led 35-27 at halftime.
The Cougars opened the second half on an 11-3 run to extend their lead to 46-30 with 16:13 to play.
Swarthmore got within 50-42 midway through the second half, but Lazdowsky made two free throws and Stoute buried a three-pointer from the left corner for a 55-42 lead and the Cougars maintained a double-digit lead over the final 10 minutes.
