DeSales used a late rally to defeat the Misericordia University men's basketball team, 74-61, Wednesday night at Center Valley.
The Cougars led 57-52 with 9:55 to play, but the Bulldogs scored 13 unanswered points and closed the game on a 20-4 run.
Joseph Baldachino led four MU players in double figures with 16 points while
Nate Kreitzer added 14 points.Â
Nick Hornung and
Kevin Lazdowsky scored 10 points each.
The Cougars trailed 20-10 midway through the first half, but rallied to take a 34-32 halftime lead.
Matt Prociak, Kreitzer and Lazdowsky hit back-to-back three-pointers with Lazdowsky converting a four-point play to tie the game, 20-20, with 7:24 to go.
Kreitzer drained another three-pointer and
Nick Hornung's jumper gave the Cougars a 25-22 lead.
Hornung's layup and Baldachino's jumper in the lane closed out the first half scoring.
Kreitzer and
Derek Smith both hit three-pointers to help give MU a 57-52 lead with 9:55 to play, but the Cougars managed just two field goals the rest of the way.
Misericordia will end the regular season at King's, Saturday and will return to DeSales for a MAC Freedom semifinal, Wednesday.
