The Misericordia University men's basketball season came to an end with an 83-67 loss at DeSales in the MAC Freedom semifinals, Wednesday.
The Bulldogs closed the game on a 17-7 run over the final 7:00 to pull away and improve to 24-2.
Kevin Lazdowsky led MU with 16 points and nine rebounds while
Nick Hornung ended his career with 14 points and six rebounds.
The lead changed hands seven times in the first half before DeSales took a 40-36 lead into intermission.
Nate Kreitzer opened the second half with a short jumper to the Cougars within 40-38.
DeSales led 56-48 with 14:43 to play and the Cougars answered with six straight points from Lazdowsky. He hit back-to-back jumpers in the lane and added a pair of free throws to cut the margin to 56-54 with 12:36 to go.
The DeSales lead bounced back-and-forth between four and eight points with
Nick Prociak's left-handed hook shot getting the Cougars within 68-62 with 6:08 to go. But, DeSales scored 13 unanswered points over the next 5:00 to take an 81-62 lead.
Dewin Concepcion made a three-pointer to give the Cougars a 9-7 lead less than five minutes into the game.
After a DeSales bucket, Baldachino put MU back in front, 11-9, with a jumper in the lane.
DeSales followed with a three-pointer and the Cougars regained the lead on Lazdowsky's short jumper for a 13-12 lead with 13:00 to play.
The Bulldogs scored two straight buckets to take the lead for good, 17-13.
The Cougars finished 13-13.
