The #17 Misericordia University men's volleyball team split a tri-match with MIT and Emerson, Sunday in Cambridge, MA.
The Cougars dropped the opener to MIT, 3-1, but took the nightcap from Emerson, 3-0.
MU took the opener against MIT, 25-22, but dropped a marathon in set two, 37-35.
Anthony DePalma led the Cougars with 22 kills while
Jared Piontkowski added 19.Â
DePalma,
Zane Martin and
Jackson Fehnel all had two blocks.
Gannon DeFrain had 50 assists and
Alex Furlong had a team-high nine digs.
Kyle Ganoe led MU with 13 ills in the nightcap and
Joe Kozak added 10 kills and three blocks.
DeFrain had 37 assists.
Down 18-16 in the opener against MIT, Fehnel had an ace and a kill to give the Cougars a 20-18 lead.
DePalma had two kills in 5-2 run to close out a 25-22 win.
Neither team led by more than three points in the second set and the Engineers fought off three set-points to win 34-30.
Kozak and DePalma had kills to fuel a 5-0 game-opening run against Emerson and the Cougars never trailed in a 25-17 win.
The Cougars fell behind early to Emerson, but chipped away and eventually went on to win the second, 27-25.
