The Misericordia University baseball team's rally came up just short in an 11-10 loss at Arcadia in their MAC Freedom opener, Saturday.

Trailing 11-6, the Cougars scored four runs in the top of the ninth.

Connor Maryniak had three hits and four RBI, including a three-run homer in the ninth.Â
Joe Comins was 4-4 with two RBI and
Brock Bollinger and
Jason Sanfilippo both had two hits.

Gabe Bunn had two RBI.
Â
The Cougars scored in each of the first three innings to take an early 5-2 lead.

Sanfilippo gave MU the lead with a two-out single in the first and Bunn put the Cougars ahead 2-1 with an RBI-triple in the second.Â
Owen Cordner followed with a sac fly to make it 3-1.

Maryniak had an RBI-double and Bunn drove in a run with a ground out in the top of the third to give MU a 5-2 lead.

Arcadia scored eight runs in the sixth and seventh innings to take an 11-6 lead and set the stage for MU's comeback attempt.
