The Misericordia University baseball team's rally came up just short in an 11-10 loss at Arcadia in their MAC Freedom opener, Saturday.
 
Trailing 11-6, the Cougars scored four runs in the top of the ninth.
 
Connor Maryniak had three hits and four RBI, including a three-run homer in the ninth.  Joe Comins was 4-4 with two RBI and Brock Bollinger and Jason Sanfilippo both had two hits.
 
Gabe Bunn had two RBI.
 
The Cougars scored in each of the first three innings to take an early 5-2 lead.
 
Sanfilippo gave MU the lead with a two-out single in the first and Bunn put the Cougars ahead 2-1 with an RBI-triple in the second.  Owen Cordner followed with a sac fly to make it 3-1.
 
Maryniak had an RBI-double and Bunn drove in a run with a ground out in the top of the third to give MU a 5-2 lead.
 
Arcadia scored eight runs in the sixth and seventh innings to take an 11-6 lead and set the stage for MU's comeback attempt.
