The Misericordia University softball team dropped a doubleheader at York, 14-6, 3-2, Tuesday.
Gianna Russo had two hits in the opener and
Mackenzie Fizer drove in two runs.
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the opener on
Casey Funesti's based-loaded walk in the top of the first, but York answered with three runs in the bottom half.
Russo doubled in a run and Fizer drove in two with a single to give the Cougars a 4-3 lead in the second.
York answered with three runs in the second and three more in the fourth.
Nikki Elliott drew a bases-loaded walk and
Kaitlin Redling reached on an infield single to cut the deficit to 9-6 in the fifth. But, the York ended the game with five runs in the sixth.
Bridget Doherty had two hits in the nightcap.
Marisa Kelly threw five shutout innings in game two, but didn't factor in the decision as the Spartans rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
The Cougars scored their only run of the game in the top of the first without hitting the ball past pitcher's mound. Russo drew a one-out walk and moved to third on Elliott's HBP and Redling's walk. The runners all moved up on a wild pitch for a 1-0 MU lead.
York scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead.
The Cougars got one run back in the top of the seventh, but left the tying run on second base.
